apple-vs-samsung9:40 AM – Legal battles between Samsung and Apple have heated up since 2011.  Both companies have been filing lawsuits against each other.  Recently, Apple won a big victory over Samsung and being awarded over $900 million in damages.

In another case taking place in South Korean, reported by The Associated Press, the court has made a decision.  In the case, the court decided that Apple’s iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPad 2 do not infringe upon Samsung’s patents.  All three devices were cleared and continue to sell in Samsung’s home country.

Samsung filed a lawsuit related to multitasking and short messaging service technology it has patented.  Samsung was looking to get $100 million won ($95,100) from Apple, but the court threw out the claim.

Apple is quite happy with the decision and a company spokesperson said that ”we are glad the Korean court joined others around the world in standing up for real innovation and rejecting Samsung’s ridiculous claims.

Samsung’s spokesperson said that “as Apple has continued to infringe our patented mobile technologies, we will continue to take the measures necessary to protect our intellectual property rights.”

So far, it seems that Samsung does plan to appeal.  The same court last August asked Apple to pay Samsung 40 million won ($38,000) in damages for infringing two of Samsung’s wireless technology patents.  Samsung also got fined for 25 million won ($23,780) for violating Apple’s rubber-banding patent.

When will these fights end?
